Duties And Responsibilities
- Fabricates, maintains, repairs, and modifies various types of tooling, including molds, dies, jigs, and fixtures, to support production needs.
- Sets up and operates manual and CNC machine tools, such as lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines, to perform machining operations on tooling components.
- Counsults and diagnoses issues with tooling and implements corrective actions to resolve problems and minimize downtime.
- Maintains accurate documentation of tooling maintenance, repair, and modification activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills And Abilities
- Proficiency in the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of various types of tooling, including molds, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Experience in setting up and operating manual and CNC machine tools, such as lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
- Precision measurement skills and ability to use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues with tooling.
- Effective communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with high precision and accuracy.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet production schedules.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents and specifications.
Education And Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent education and experience required.
- Three years of experience in toolmaking, including fabrication, maintenance, and repair of tooling components required.
- Well-rounded experience in metal stamping, training in the machine shop, and Toolroom practices (functions usually acquired through a formal Toolmaker apprenticeship or a minimum of 4 to 6 years equivalent Toolroom training or on-the-job experience in a metal stamping Toolroom environment with a formal machine shop or previous machine tool education).
