About the Role
The Toolmaker supports our manufacturing facility in Forest Lake, MN. They are responsible for executing tasks to support the building, service, and repair of molds, tooling, and fixtures. This is an on-site position.
Responsibilities
- Manufacturer Quality Tooling
- Build tool components at a high level of accuracy.
- Tooling free from errors requiring unnecessary rework to repair or replace components.
- Maintain tooling thru execution of repair and maintenance.
- Provide quick turnaround on repairs and service.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all molds.
- Create documentation notes as needed for tools constructed.
- Aid production and maintenance on tasks when needed.
- Tool Component Construction and Schedule Attainment
- Assist in planning and scheduling tasks and projects.
- Work with the Quality Manager to create or update position procedures book, following documentation change control policies.
- Set up and operate most standard tool room equipment including conventional mills, lathes, surface grinders.
- Continuous Improvement
- Suggest improvements to molds or processes including materials & machines.
- Examine standard or previously used molds, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of parts.
- Develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools & draw or sketch design for repair or improvement.
- Demonstrate and maintain safe execution of work activities and conduct 5S activities.
- Follow and comply with all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Utilize 5S practices to organize the manufacturing area.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED-General Studies.
- 2 year tech degree in tool and die or mold making.
- Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.
- 5 years’ experience in a Tool shop.
- Physical & Mental Demands: Walking, sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and move objects in a safe manner using proper equipment. Must have dexterity with hands. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner (results oriented); Ability to make decisions with limited information.

Pay & Schedule
- Typical pay range: $27.80 - $41.71.
- Schedule options: 2nd shift - Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:30pm OR 3rd shift - Sunday-Thursday 11:30pm-7:30am.
