Summary
Operates a variety of machines common to the trade under supervision, including cranes, forklifts, lathes, mills, surface grinders, and welding equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate crane and forklift safely
- Disassembles, assembles, inspects, cleans, and polishes molds
- Use skill and care when polishing critical surfaces
- Disassembles and repairs Hot Runner and hydraulic actuated molds
- Must be familiar with electrical and hydraulic circuits using diagrams, blueprints, and testing meters and methods
- Reassemble and rewire molds
- Execute lathe, mill, and surface grinder machining components
- Ability to read micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools
- Performs mold repair work with hand tools, hand grinders, and stones under supervision
- Reworks and constructs machine parts with hand tools
- Welds spot molds and other projects as needed
- Assists Sr. tooling tech or onsite toolmaker on set ups and operations as needed
- Fills out PM records
- Understands PM schedule for timely scheduled maintenance
- Maintains inventory of Tool Room PM components and supplies
- Observes all health and safety requirements and maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience being involved/hands on with Injection Molds
- Strong Mechanical knowledge
- 2 Years Crane experience a must
- Machining capabilities required (Manual Milling Machines, Manual Lathes, and surface grinding)
- Experience with Electrical and Hydraulics
- Tig Welding is required
- Physical demands: must be able to lift at the minimum of at least 50lbs. off the ground, work on feet for majority of an 8 hour shift, wear safety glasses where required, and walk and climb stairs
