Tooling Technician

Tooling Technician Clement's Ferry Location Pay Range: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour (Actual pay offered will be based on experience, skill level, and qualifications.) Position Summary Sea Fox Boats is seeking a skilled and dependable Tooling Technician to join our production team. This position plays an important role in building the molds, plugs, jigs, and tooling used to manufacture high-quality boats. The ideal candidate is a hands-on craftsman with experience in epoxy/composite work, EPS foam shaping, woodworking, and welding. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, and turning raw materials into accurate, production-ready components. The Tooling Technician works with a variety of shop tools, machinery, materials, and fabrication techniques while maintaining high standards for accuracy, quality, safety, and craftsmanship. Key Responsibilities Fabricate jigs, plugs, fixtures, and structural components used in boat productionOperate woodworking machinery and power tools to cut, shape, and assemble componentsCut and shape EPS foam using hot-wire equipment for hulls, decks, small parts, and other tooling applicationsCombine foam shaping, woodworking, and composite fabrication techniques to produce accurate partsPrepare surfaces and apply fiberglass cloth using epoxy resins and related materialsMeasure, mix, and apply epoxy paste, resins, and catalysts according to specificationsSafely operate epoxy pasting equipment for accurate application of epoxy pastePerform composite layup and related finishing work to produce quality tooling and componentsRead and follow blueprints, laminate schedules, drawings, and welding printsPerform MIG/TIG welding and other metal fabrication tasks as neededSet up and safely operate welding equipment and related shop toolsMeasure, fit, adjust, and finish components to meet production specificationsInspect completed work to ensure accuracy, structural integrity, and finished qualityIdentify defects, inconsistencies, or fabrication issues and make appropriate correctionsSafely operate forklifts to move materials, molds, tooling, and finished componentsHandle long, oversized, and fragile materials and components safelyMaintain proper PPE, ventilation, and workplace safety practices when working with epoxy, fiberglass, welding equipment, and shop machineryKeep work areas, tools, machinery, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working conditionCommunicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and fellow craftsmen regarding production requirements and concernsWork cooperatively with other team members to meet production goals and maintain an efficient workflow Required Skills & Qualifications Previous experience with epoxy application, composites, fiberglass, or boat building is requiredStrong hands-on mechanical and fabrication skillsExperience using grinders, sanders, brushes, table saws, compound miter saws, and other hand and power toolsAbility to accurately measure, cut, shape, fit, and finish materialsAbility to read and follow drawings, blueprints, laminate schedules, and production specificationsExperience with epoxy composite layup and/or epoxy pastingAbility to safely work with fiberglass, epoxy resins, catalysts, and related materialsExperience with welding equipment; MIG/TIG experience preferredAbility to safely operate a forklift or willingness to obtain forklift certificationStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanshipAbility to troubleshoot problems and make accurate adjustmentsAbility to work independently while contributing positively to a team environmentDependable attendance and ability to meet production schedulesProfessional attitude and willingness to assist teammates when neededAbility to communicate clearly with supervisors, engineers, and coworkers Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in the marine manufacturing or boat-building industryExperience with tooling, plug building, mold building, or composite fabricationMIG and/or TIG welding experienceAWS welding certification or other applicable welding credentialsForklift certificationExperience working with oversized, long, or fragile materialsAdditional experience with epoxy composite fabrication and finishing Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach for extended periodsAbility to lift and move materials and components as requiredAbility to work safely around fiberglass, epoxy, resins, welding equipment, woodworking machinery, dust, noise, and varying temperaturesAbility to work with hand tools, power tools, machinery, and fabrication equipment throughout the workdayAbility to work around boats, molds, plugs, tooling, and other large production componentsAbility to wear required PPE and follow all safety proceduresMust be comfortable performing repetitive hand and arm movements associated with fabrication and finishing work Benefits Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance – Eligible after 60 days of employment401(k) Retirement Plan – Start planning for your future todayPaid Weekly – Enjoy the convenience of weekly paychecksPaid Time Off (PTO) – Available after 90 days of employment Build More Than Boats — Build Your Future!
