Tooling Specialist

SUMMARY

Determines optimal tool specifications and designs based on past knowledge, manufacturing and engineering feedback, and supplier recommendations. Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels of tooling in Supply Point and tool crib. Monitor tool costs for jobs and reports on out of ordinary or excessive tool cost or consumption. Determine cost analysis of different tooling/ tooling technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Determines optimal tool specifications and designs based on past knowledge, manufacturing and engineering feedback, and supplier recommendations.
• Maintains appropriate inventory levels of tooling in Supply Point and tool crib.
• Monitors and reports on tool costs for jobs and excessive tool consumption.
• Determines cost analysis of different tooling/ tooling technology.
• Stays current with the changing technology of tooling.
• Receives, unpacks, and stores incoming tools and equipment.
• Arranges for service and repair of tooling and equipment as needed.
• Interacts with suppliers, vendors, and company personnel in person, over the phone, or via written correspondence in a professional manner.
• Performs MRO purchasing vendor negotiation duties.

OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience dealing with Tool vendors, tooling for CNC/NC machining.
• Analytical skills to determine best tooling options.
