Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluates each tool’s condition and performs necessary maintenance in preparation for next production run.
- Responsible for organization and tracking of thermoforming tools.
- Responsible for maintaining all required bolts and hardware necessary for tool set up.
- Captures service from outside tool shops as needed.
- Works closely with Thermoforming Technicians to meet or reduce specified changeover durations.
- Must be capable of training Thermoforming Technicians on best practices to extend tool life.
- Must be capable of or capable of learning how to operate a surface grinder and perform aluminum welding.
- Embodies the spirit of Continuous Improvement and strives to reduce costs while simultaneously improving quality.
- Completes all additional work authorized by the Maintenance Manager.
- Identifies nonconforming product and any potential problems.
- Use geometry and trigonometry as needed.
- Fits all components and verifies proper tool function.
- To be able to perform the physical requirements of this position and work in a safe manner.
- Housekeeping as required keeping the work areas clean and orderly.
- Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality food trays that meet regulatory and company requirements.
- Supports the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF Systems.
- Observes safety and security procedures, including maintaining confidentiality, using equipment/materials properly, reporting potentially unsafe conditions, and acting upon appropriate actions.
- Supports company’s policies and procedures and conducts departmental and company activities in accordance with these policies.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Toolmaker apprenticeship or university program certificate preferred; or Journey-person or equivalent experience to thermoforming or tool making; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Capability to run all types of machine tools.
- Language Ability: Ability to read precision measuring equipment and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to troubleshoot molds.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word processing software.
