Tool Management Technician (Tool Setter) - Off Shift

About the role

The Tool Management Technician prepares presets, assembles, and provides tools and fixtures for the CNC and conventional machining centers in the crankcase manufacturing area. The role focuses on accurate tool presetting and assembly, tool crib and inventory management, and supporting machine operators to keep production running reliably.

Responsibilities

  • Adjust and align tools and modify systems on pre-set equipment according to machining specifications
  • Set and change specialty and standard tools in machining centers, for example MAPAL reamers from single diameter to multi-diameter, as well as standard tooling systems
  • Preset and measure tools on a tool presetting device, record the values on the data carrier, and set and verify tool coding where applicable
  • Assemble and reassemble new tools, re-worked tools, and prototype tools for tool crib operations, and compile workpiece-related tool sets ready for pickup
  • Prepare and set up fixtures according to fixture drawings, check and set new fixtures, and document zero points in the setup sheet
  • Assess tooling re-work capability based on tooling attributes and machining requirements
  • Verify the quality of tooling by inspecting it, comparing it to templates, measuring its dimensions, or testing it.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma/GED and completion of an apprenticeship or training program, or 3 years of previous experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial tooling management in a heavy-duty machining environment
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

Pay

$25.11 - $37.67-Hourly

Schedule

Monday night through Thursday night, 7:30pm to 6:00am
