About the role
The Wenzel Measuring Machine Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring coordinate measuring machines (CMM) in crankcase manufacturing. The role involves performing dimensional, form, and position (GD&T) tolerance checks on crankcase components, ensuring part quality and supporting production.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the Wenzel coordinate measuring machine during production, loading and executing existing measuring programs.
- Perform dimensional, form, and position (GD&T) tolerance checks on crankcase components according to drawing specifications, including geometries, positions, and surface characteristics, and perform in-process inspections during ongoing series production, ensuring correct setup and alignment of parts.
- Interpret measurement results, identify deviations or out-of-tolerance conditions, perform root cause analysis, and initiate and track corrective actions.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and measurement specifications, and work with standard hand and electronic measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Manage, care for, maintain, and monitor test and measuring equipment, with SAP support, and maintain measurement documentation and report results.
- Support production with quality questions, sampling, and process approvals, and collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams.
- Keep the team informed, maintain cleanliness, order, and safety, support troubleshooting of basic machine or measurement issues, reduce non-value-added work, perform special projects as required, and promote a compliance culture in line with the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct.
Requirements

Preferred Qualifications
- Basic ability to operate a coordinate measuring machine (Wenzel preferred) and to run and monitor existing measuring programs safely.
- Confident handling of hand and electronic measuring instruments.
- A basic understanding of measurement processes, coordinate systems, machine axes, and alignment; ability to read blueprints, GD&T, angles, directions, and part orientation; basic ability to inspect surface roughness and contours (profilometer and contracer); and basic knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
Work Conditions
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
