Schedule

  • 1st shift: 6 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 2nd shift: 2:30 PM – 11 PM

Pay

$35/hr

About the role

The Tool and Die Technician supports the tooling and production departments by machining parts to repair metal stamping dies and tooling.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent bending, stooping, stretching, and prolonged standing
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds continuously throughout an eight-hour shift
  • Normal vision and hearing range
  • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in a factory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs production dies and tools
  • Operates machinery (precision and hand tools) required to build or repair parts
  • Knowledgeable in most toolroom machinery
  • Repairs and installs die sensors and safety devices
  • Lays out, fits, and assembles parts to make and repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, etc.
  • Studies blueprints to determine machining to be done and plans layout and process
  • Understands stamping dies (blanking, forming, drawing) and die timing, pad travels, stripper and binder pad travels/pressures, and timing
  • Performs in-press and bench (Toolroom) die troubleshooting
  • Performs in-press die, sensor, and tooling adjustments, troubleshooting, and changes as required
  • Uses own measurement and hand tools to perform required duties
  • TIG (Toolroom) welding experience preferred but not required
  • Communicates effectively with other shifts (verbally and in writing)
  • Collaborates with production supervisors, team leads, and production associates
  • Uses precision and non-precision measuring instruments/tools to verify dimensions and alignments
  • Disassembles dies as necessary to repair, sharpen, check clearances (cutting or forming), or strengthen die attributes
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area
  • Performs duties safely with attention to quality
  • Operates forklifts and overhead cranes
  • Follows Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when responding to press calls
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Toolroom Supervisor and Management

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience operating various machinery, including lathes, mills, grinders, and similar equipment
  • 5–10 years of relevant Tool and Die experience (preferred)
  • Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses required while performing duties in production areas

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Working knowledge of mathematics as it relates to metal stamping dies and tooling
  • Experience with metal stamping dies and tooling
