Tool Crib CoordinatorJob Purpose
The Tool Crib Coordinator is a vital part of our manufacturing team, responsible for ensuring that all CNC machining operations run smoothly. This is a dual-role position that focuses on both the management of all tooling and the maintenance and repair of shop equipment.Nature of Duties/Responsibilities
- Tooling Management:
- Receiving, Storing, and Dispensing: Receive, unpack, and store all incoming tools, materials, and equipment. Prepare and organize complete tool kits (Set-up Boxes) for specific jobs based on upcoming production schedules, dispense tools to machinists, and track their usage.
- Inventory Control: Monitor and review tool usage to maintain accurate perpetual inventory records and prevent shortages. Order new cutting tools, drills, inserts, and other essential supplies from vendors.
- Tool Maintenance and Inspection: Inspect and measure tools for defects and wear, visually or using a micrometer, and report any damage. Manage the re-sharpening/regrinding program to keep all tooling in optimal condition.
- Organization: Maintain a clean, highly organized tool room and locate any lost or misplaced tools and equipment.
- Daily Support: Conduct daily rounds to collect used tooling and carbide, ensuring a continuous flow of materials and maintaining a tidy shop environment.
- Equipment Maintenance & Repair:
- Preventative Maintenance: Maintain a comprehensive maintenance and coolant cleaning schedule and log for all shop equipment, including CNC machines, air compressors, forklifts, and other essential machinery.
- Fluid Management: Monitor, maintain, and manage the inventory of all coolants, oils, and other essential fluids for shop equipment, ensuring they are always on hand when needed.
- Troubleshooting & Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for equipment issues. Diagnose problems, and when needed, coordinate with and schedule external machine technicians to perform complex repairs.
Education and Experience
- Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: 6 or more years of related experience with Tool Crib or Inventory Materials
