About the role
IMD is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Tool Crib Assistant to support the organization, distribution, and tracking of tools, equipment, and materials used across our mechanical and plumbing construction projects. This role ensures field crews have the right tools, parts, and equipment on hand and in good working condition to keep jobsites — including healthcare, education, and mission-critical facility projects — running on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Issue and receive tools, power equipment, and small parts to/from field technicians and pipefitters, maintaining accurate checkout/return records
- Maintain organized tool crib and warehouse inventory, ensuring tools are stored in designated, easy-to-find locations
- Inspect returned tools and equipment for wear, damage, or malfunction; flag for repair, calibration, or replacement
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory against system records
- Receive incoming shipments, verify against packing slips/purchase orders, and stock items appropriately
- Coordinate with project managers and field supervisors to anticipate tooling and material needs for upcoming jobs
- Prepare tool kits and material packages for crews being dispatched to jobsites
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized crib and warehouse area
- Create purchase requests for replacement tools, consumables, and supplies as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ years of experience in a warehouse, construction, or mechanical/plumbing trade environment preferred
- Basic computer skills; experience with inventory or ERP systems a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, or pipefitting tools and materials
- Prior tool crib, warehouse, or inventory control experience in a construction or mechanical contracting setting
- Valid driver's license (if jobsite deliveries are part of the role)

Pay
$28.00 – $30.00 per hour, depending on experience
