About the role

As a Tolling Industry Consultant in our Public Service group, you will support the design and implementation of business changes that drive transformation in tolling agencies and transportation authorities. Your work will focus on people, process, and technology within back-office operations, customer service, and roadside systems. You’ll develop foundational tolling domain knowledge while delivering meaningful outcomes as part of a collaborative team under the guidance of senior practitioners. Ability to travel 75–100%.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to client engagements across back-office operations, customer service, and roadside systems in the tolling industry.
  • Support large-scale operational or technology transformations for tolling agencies and transportation authorities.
  • Develop and apply foundational knowledge of tolling systems, including back-office platforms (billing, account management, customer service), roadside systems (transponders, gantries, toll collection equipment), and customer service operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver project workstreams and meet deadlines.
  • Bring innovative ideas and a continuous improvement mindset to client projects.
  • Support client-facing presentations or stakeholder workshops.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of public service, transportation, or tolling industry experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience supporting large-scale operational or technology engagements.
  • Foundational knowledge of the tolling industry, including back-office systems, roadside systems, and customer service operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred but not required).
  • Consulting or advisory experience in transportation or tolling.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team structure and contribute to project deliverables.
  • Awareness of the competitive landscape in tolling, including key vendors, technology providers, and peer agencies.
  • Curiosity about emerging innovations in tolling, such as all-electronic tolling (AET), cashless tolling, interoperability standards, and connected vehicle technologies.
  • Hands-on exposure to tolling back-office platforms or roadside technology deployments.

Pay

Compensation varies based on location, role, skill set, and experience. Below are the annual salary ranges for this role by location:

  • California: $70,350 to $205,800
  • Cleveland: $59,100 to $164,600
  • Colorado: $63,800 to $177,800
  • District of Columbia: $68,000 to $189,300
  • Illinois: $59,100 to $177,800
  • Maine: $54,400 to $151,400
  • Maryland: $63,800 to $177,800
  • Massachusetts: $63,800 to $189,300
  • Minnesota: $63,800 to $177,800
  • New York: $66,300 to $205,800
  • New Jersey: $68,000 to $205,800
  • Virginia: $59,100 to $189,300
  • Washington: $80,200 to $189,300
