About the Role
An Assembler/Operator is responsible for safety, quality, and throughput in a part assembly operation and capable of optimizing equipment and/or processes in various work activities. An AO will participate in solving problems and implementing solutions in a team-based environment to increase Woodstream’s productivity. An AO is an integral part of the production team, with success determined by positive communication, cooperation, interaction, and contribution toward achieving work center goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
The size, nature, and seasonal requirements of the Assembly operation in TN demand a high level of flexibility and efficiency. There are four areas of concentration in which AO’s operate. Assembler/Operators are required to demonstrate proficiency in at least one or more areas after one year of employment and two or more areas after two years.
- Energizer Builder
- Build units consistently within process specifications and at a throughput rate that meets or exceeds documented standards.
- Produce parts and/or product that meet or exceed specified quality requirements.
- A successful Builder has demonstrated capability and is a certified builder of at least 75% of all units available for production.
- Perform efficient setups and changeovers as per the production schedule.
- Work with other Builders and Supervisors in identifying and implementing ways to maximize throughput, safety, and quality of products or processes.
- Accessories Builder
- Build Accessories products consistently within process specifications and at a throughput rate that meets or exceeds documented standards.
- Produce parts and/or product that meet or exceed specified quality requirements.
- Packs and palletizes units as per product specifications and at a throughput rate that meets or exceeds documented standards.
- A successful Accessories Builder has demonstrated capability and is a certified builder of at least 75% of all Accessories units available for production.
- Perform efficient setups and changeovers as per the production schedule.
- Work with other Builders and Supervisors in identifying and implementing ways to maximize throughput, safety, and quality of products or processes.
- QC Tester/Packer
- Collect units from Builders for testing.
- Inspect and test units, including UL test units as defined by product specifications, at a throughput rate that meets or exceeds documented standards.
- Fold inserts and information booklets and prepare other materials for packaging at a standard throughput rate.
- Packs and palletizes units as per product specifications and at a throughput rate that meets or exceeds documented standards.
- Sub Assembler/Operator
- Load materials and operate equipment (wire machines, drill/punch presses, etc.) to produce subassembly components within process specifications and at a throughput rate that meets or exceeds documented standards.
- Produce parts and/or product that meet or exceed specified quality requirements.
- Perform daily machine inspections and maintenance as per operator task list.
- Perform efficient setups and changeovers as per the production schedule.
Other Functions
- Maintain and support continuous operations in accordance with work center schedules.
- Maximize machine efficiency and throughput; seek assistance for equipment failure when appropriate.
- Interact with others toward the accomplishment of team goals and objectives.
- Participate in cross-training programs and support co-workers as needed.
- Integrate temporary employees into duties as required.
- Participate in identifying problems, suggest improvements, and assist in implementing solutions.
- Operate in a safe manner and comply with safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Maintain work area in a neat and orderly way during and at the end of the shift.
- Record and maintain any data related to work activity in a concise, accurate way, and communicate appropriately.
- Assist in operations in any way deemed essential to meet production requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Regular attendance and punctuality required.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Basic problem-solving skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
