Title 1 Tutor

Qualifications

• One of the following:
  • A High School Diploma and 48 hours of higher education
  • An Associate’s degree or above
• Successful completion of the THEA or other appropriate examination or core academic ability
• Successful completion of the Paraprofessional Educator course provided by Master Teacher
• Successful completion of Training of Paraprofessionals provided by Regional Service Centers
• Texas State Teacher Certification (preferred)
• ESL Certification (preferred)
• Teaching experience in a Public School is preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare, educate, and coach students in a Responsive Education Solutions (ResponsiveEd) school
• Work with parents and students to provide and implement individualized instruction to improve student achievement
• Provide tutoring and instruction to develop the students' understanding in assigned content areas
• Provide sheltered instruction support for language acquisition
• Coach and help students to become familiar with state mandated testing and other assigned testing material
• Teach students and parents stress reducing techniques
• Allocate time and resources to areas the student(s) are struggling
• Perform tutorials, during normal business hours
• Travel to local schools as required
