Title 1 Math Tutor

Position Summary

The Title I Math Tutor prepares, educates, and coaches students in a Responsive Education Solutions(ResponsiveEd) school. The tutor works with parents and students to provide and implement individualized instruction to improve student achievement.

Qualifications

• One of the following:
  • A High School Diploma and 48 hours of higher education
  • An Associate’s degree or above
• Successful completion of the THEA or other appropriate examination or core academic ability
• Successful completion of the Paraprofessional Educator course provided by Master Teacher
• Successful completion of Training of Paraprofessionals provided by Regional Service Centers
• Texas State Teacher Certification (preferred)
• ESL Certification (preferred)
• Teaching/tutoring experience in a Public School (preferred)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) in Math courses

• High School Algebra 1

Possess a Passion for Children

• The ability and patience to work interactively with children
• Strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
• A clear understanding of goal setting for students
• The ability to communicate with all levels of students, parents, staff, and Campus Directors
• Excellent verbal communication skills

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide tutoring and instruction to develop the students understanding in assigned content areas
• Provide sheltered instruction support for language acquisition
• Coach and help students to become familiar with state mandated testing and other assigned testing material
• Teach students and parents stress reducing techniques
• Allocate time and resources to areas the student(s) are struggling
• Perform tutorials, during normal business hours
