Responsibilities
- Teach foundational Math 1 topics, including linear equations and inequalities, functions and function families, systems of equations, exponential functions, basic statistics and data analysis, geometric transformations, and congruence.
- Explain key concepts such as slope-intercept form, function notation, and rigid transformations while preparing students for integrated math progression and standardized assessments.
- Break down complex topics like equation solving, linear function graphing, and geometric proofs into digestible lessons.
- Guide students through modeling with linear and exponential functions, interpreting scatter plots and residuals, and performing rigid transformations on the coordinate plane.
- Emphasize mathematical reasoning and connect algebraic and geometric perspectives to real-world problem scenarios.
- Adapt instruction using interactive graphing tools, hands-on transformation activities, and contextual problems to support students transitioning from middle school to high school integrated mathematics.
- Identify and address common student challenges, such as writing linear equations from context, understanding function notation, and constructing geometric arguments.
- Use multiple teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and styles.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of Math 1 topics, including Integrated Math 1 curricula and Common Core standards.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt instruction to different learning styles.
- Strong communication skills and an engaging, friendly teaching style.
- Experience identifying and addressing common student struggles in Math 1.
