Responsibilities
- Teach core Math 1 topics: linear equations and inequalities, functions and function families, systems of equations, exponential functions, basic statistics and data analysis, geometric transformations, and congruence.
- Explain key concepts such as slope-intercept form, function notation, and rigid transformations while preparing students for integrated math progression and standardized tests (e.g., state assessments).
- Break down complex topics like equation solving, linear function graphing, and geometric proofs.
- Guide students through modeling with linear and exponential functions, interpreting scatter plots and residuals, and performing rigid transformations on the coordinate plane.
- Emphasize mathematical reasoning and connect algebraic/geometric concepts to real-world scenarios.
- Adapt instruction using interactive tools, hands-on activities, and contextual problems to support students transitioning from middle to high school math.
- Identify common student struggles and explain material using multiple approaches tailored to individual learning needs.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of Integrated Math 1 curricula and Common Core standards.
- Familiarity with common student challenges (e.g., writing linear equations from context, understanding function notation, constructing geometric arguments).
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
