About the role
Perform hands-on work outdoors in the yard, preparing vehicles for placement by draining fluids and removing parts. This role supports our mission of keeping customers on the road while offering opportunities to learn, grow, and build a career.
Responsibilities
- Dismantle tires and remove all fluids, lubricants, and components (e.g., converters) safely and efficiently to prep vehicles for the yard.
- Remove vehicle parts from salvage cars, including quarter panels, doors, lids, hoods, axles, and suspension pieces.
- Set vehicles in the yard as assigned and record information accurately and timely.
- Operate a forklift or loader to assist in moving vehicles from processing to the yard.
- Clean out debris from vehicles before they enter the processing area.
- Remove and test batteries for resale, and bring charged batteries to the retail area.
- Work with the Loader Operator to stage or pull vehicles in the yard properly.
- Walk the yard and place debris in cars being removed.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, ensuring compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with company policies and procedures.
- Support the company’s quality improvement system and assume other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent desired.
- General knowledge and ability to perform relatively simple tasks.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and communicate effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work assignments.
- Flexibility to work variable schedules, including weekends.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Constantly on your feet except when operating machinery.
- No lifting restrictions; must be able to move/lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Able to stand for long periods, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, climb, and work at heights over 15 feet.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions with no coverage.
- Ability to tolerate high and low temperatures.
- Moderately loud noise level in the work environment.
Pay
$19.00 per hour with a $1.00 increase after 90 days.
$1,000 Hiring Bonus: Eligible employees receive $500 after 90 days of employment and the remaining $500 after 6 months, provided they are actively employed at the time of each payment.
