About Skyworks

Skyworks is an innovator of high‑performance analog semiconductors whose solutions are powering the wireless networking revolution. The company offers the industry’s broadest timing product portfolio of crystal oscillators, clock generators, clock buffers, jitter attenuators and network synchronizers. Its patented technology combines best‑in‑class frequency flexibility with the lowest jitter in the industry, delivering quick‑turn, customized solutions that simplify board design, eliminate discrete components, and maximize system performance. Skyworks emphasizes a fast‑paced, globally collaborative environment with minimal layers of management and encourages creative, out‑of‑the‑box thinking.

Position Overview

This paid summer internship (May 2027 – August 2027) is with the IC Validation team in Austin, TX. The team leads post‑silicon activities, including chip bring‑up, validation, and characterization of new timing devices. Interns will play a key role in the New Product Introduction (NPI) cycle, moving products from pre‑silicon design to post‑silicon validation to ensure exceptional product quality and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Timing Design team with new IC validation and characterization.
  • Test and debug system and block functionality of new timing ICs.
  • Lead the design and development of high‑speed PCBs (EEVBs), including discrete analog circuits, used for validation and characterization.
  • Perform silicon characterization by developing robust, reusable tests to determine device datasheet specifications.
  • Assemble and maintain laboratory test setups to support validation and characterization.
  • Define, develop, and/or acquire software and hardware tools for silicon test efforts.
  • Develop automation scripts to collect data, reduce collection time, ensure repeatable measurements, and generate reports.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Active student (BS or MS) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, available May 2027 – August 2027.
  • Schematic capture and PCB design skills.
  • Software programming capabilities (Java, C++, C#, Python, etc.).
  • Understanding of Phase‑Locked Loops (PLLs).
  • Familiarity with common lab instruments (power supplies, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self‑starter with a strong desire to contribute meaningfully to the team.
  • Positive team player who enjoys collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines on critical projects.

Pay

The typical pay range for an engineering intern in the United States is $26.00 – $47.50 per hour; for a non‑engineering intern it is $22.50 – $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, specific duties, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different U.S. locations.
