Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship. Onsite 5 days per week in Houston, TX.

About the Role

The Scheduler, Relief Coverage will work in an open, fast-paced team of Commercial Schedulers in Houston to optimize commodities in the company’s portfolio. The individual will cover a scheduling desk when the regular Commercial Scheduler is away for planned or unplanned leave and report directly to the Director, Clean Scheduling in Commercial.

Responsibilities

  • Advance as an industry leader in integrity, scheduling excellence, and professionalism while continuously driving to increase general interest value.
  • Provide scheduler relief coverage as needed on a 24/7 basis (on-call coverage as needed, typically once every 2 weeks).
  • Able to cover scheduling desks outside of Commercial Clean when needed.
  • While covering a scheduling desk:
    • Perform nominations and daily scheduling activities for products including, but not limited to, gasoline, intermediate blendstocks, ethanol, diesel, jet, and transmix to fulfill Commercial Trading, Marketing, and VCO demand requirements and execute on commitments while avoiding refinery or terminal containment events.
    • Enter data into SAP, Trade66, Navarik, Mainstay, and other 3rd-party systems accurately and promptly to meet operational, financial, and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate inspectors and ensure specification and quantity measurement requirements are met; ensure costs are appropriately shared with counterparties as applicable.
    • Manage product specification changes through distribution systems to meet regulatory requirements.
    • Perform loss control oversight.
    • Understand logistical constraints and work effectively across business teams to optimize inventories, identify market opportunities, and balance profit with operational risk.
    • Actively participate in weekly refinery, Supply Reliability Team (SRT), or similar meetings dependent on desk.
    • Closely monitor asset operations and communicate current and/or future operational issues promptly to key stakeholders.
    • Continuously maintain and report accurate inventory positions and work with Marketing, Commercial Trading, and VCO to manage inventory to targets.
    • Understand and abide by domestic and international regulations and laws associated with the desk and conduct any required regulatory reporting as needed.
    • Quickly establish and maintain positive working relationships with external and internal counterparts.
    • Conduct scheduler desk reviews to facilitate and implement process improvements and ensure desk manuals are available and updated.
    • Support resolution of book-to-book and book-to-physical activities for SAP inventories for Commercial US Clean Scheduling.
  • When not providing coverage, assist Commercial Schedulers with management of inventories, reporting requests, Discrepancy Error Workbench ticket resolution, and similar activities as directed by the Director, Clean Scheduling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3 or more years of industry experience in logistics management, value-chain optimization, or commercial activity support.
  • Able to work extended and non-standard hours.
  • Intermediate proficiency with analytical tools such as Excel and PowerBI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of commercial scheduling experience.
  • Working knowledge of marine, pipeline, rail, and truck transportation operations.
  • Good understanding of downstream operations, supply chain, and value drivers.
  • High degree of ethics and personal drive.
  • Good problem-solving, organizational, planning, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Dedication to achieve team goals, increase general interest value to the company, and support internal and external customers.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and make continuous improvements.
  • Ability to set, manage, and meet multiple and competing priorities.

Pay

$34.00 - $39.00/hr

Schedule

Office hours: 7am - 4pm or 8am - 5pm, onsite 5 days per week.
