Location: Houston, TX 77042 – 100% onsite, 12-month contract.
Schedule
- 5 days a week onsite during training (typically a couple of weeks).
- After training, 1 day remote per week allowed.
About the Role
This position ensures the volumetric accuracy of scheduled product movements. The Scheduling Analyst works closely with Schedulers and Accounting throughout the month and during month-end close activities to maintain accurate inventory in SAP.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze crude oil inventory transactions and trading business transactions.
- Ensure timely updating of SAP nominations, execution of manual accruals, correction of system or ticketing errors, and other clean-up to accurately reflect inventory in SAP.
- Monitor and verify the accuracy of all transactions related to product movements in SAP S4, in accordance with accounting standards.
- Run various reports in SAP S4 to monitor inventory builds/draws and analyze data routinely throughout the month.
- Collaborate with managed service providers (offshore resources), scheduling teams, and traders to properly reflect positions and trades in accounting records.
- Review complicated Discrepancy Error Workbench (DEW) requests from Back Office and Volumetric Accounting, assisting with resolution.
- Serve as a backup reviewer for DEW when a scheduler is out of the office.
- Assist schedulers with troubleshooting nominations that do not result in the intended inventory effect in SAP, providing resolution in collaboration with the Trade Support group.
- Prepare reports and summaries of reconciliation findings for management review.
- Track and communicate trends or recurring issues impacting inventory accuracy and assist in developing solutions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in scheduling tactics.
- Assist with direct resolution of discrepancies during high-intensity periods, such as month-end close.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 5 or more years of experience in a similar role.
- Oil and gas experience required.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience running financial and inventory reports in SAP.
- 2 or more years as a scheduler in the oil and gas industry.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including reading comprehension.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize demands from multiple departments.
- Self-motivated, effective team player with a customer service mentality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
