Tier II Network Technician

About the role

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos has an opening for a Tier II Network Technician to support the customer’s computer data-communications systems. Responsibilities include providing design specifications, testing, and inspections for computer networks; planning and implementing upgrades; and analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling.

Responsibilities

• Support installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices.
• Respond to and resolve network incidents; demonstrate troubleshooting skills and communicate with the team.
• Complete assigned tasks within Service Level Objectives/Agreements (SLOs/SLAs).
• Draft and implement standard network change requests.
• Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, TEMS, coordinate and install new equipment).
• Perform configuration management functions: update topology drawings, ensure asset-management records are accurate, and conduct inventory.
• Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades (knowledge of Cisco/Juniper RMA process).
• Layer 1 network experience: CAT5/6, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP.
• Layer 2 network experience: configure/troubleshoot switches/routers, MAC addresses, VLANs, port security, applying thin and thick configurations.
• Layer 3 network experience: subnetting, familiar with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE.
• Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLANs, Port Security, Thin Configs).
• Perform IOS upgrades for Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, and Foundry OS.
• Use Microsoft Visio for network documentation.
• Familiar with ServiceNow and Atlassian Confluence.
• May have up to 10% COMSEC responsibilities based on site and team needs.
• Up to 25% travel required.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance at time of consideration.
• Six years of combined work history and education (Doctorate = 0 years, Master’s = 0 years, Bachelor’s = 2 years, Associate’s = 4 years, HS diploma = 6 years).
• Compliance with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
• Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals and layer 2 switching concepts.
• Knowledge of Cisco/Juniper Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes.
• Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP).
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI models.
• Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, and Brocade/Foundry OS.
• Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols: OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, and Atlassian Confluence.
• Working knowledge of ServiceNow or similar ITSM products.

Pay

Pay Range: $59,150.00 – $106,925.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
