Tier II Network Technician

About the role

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos seeks a Tier II Network Technician to support the customer’s computer data-communications systems. Responsibilities include designing, testing, and inspecting network solutions; planning and implementing upgrades; and analyzing hardware/software configurations through network modeling.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain client LAN/WAN devices.
• Respond to and resolve network incidents; demonstrate troubleshooting skills and communicate with the team.
• Complete assigned tasks within Service Level Objectives/Agreements (SLOs/SLAs).
• Draft and implement standard network change requests.
• Support Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, TEMS, coordinate and install new equipment).
• Perform configuration management functions: update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory.
• Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades (knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process).
• Layer 1 network experience: CAT5/6, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP.
• Layer 2 network experience: configure/troubleshoot switches/routers, MAC addresses, VLANs, port security, thin and thick configurations.
• Layer 3 network experience: subnetting, familiar with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE.
• Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLANs, Port Security, Thin Configs).
• Perform IOS upgrades for Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, and Foundry OS.
• Use Visio for network documentation.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow and Confluence.
• Up to 10% COMSEC responsibilities based on site and team needs.
• Up to 25% travel required.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance at time of consideration.
• 6 years of combined work history and education (e.g., Doctorate + 0 years, Master’s + 0 years, Bachelor’s + 2 years, Associate’s + 4 years, or HS diploma + 6 years).
• Compliance with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
• Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals and layer 2 switching concepts.
• Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes.
• Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP).
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI models.
• Familiarity with Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade, and Foundry OS.
• Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols: OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, and Atlassian Confluence.
• Working knowledge of ServiceNow or similar ITSM products.

Pay

Pay Range: $59,150.00 – $106,925.00. The range is a general guideline and may vary based on responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, or applicable laws.
