About the role
The Salvation Army Midland Division Thrift Store in Mattoon, Illinois, is seeking a thrift store worker to assist customers and manage inventory.
Responsibilities
- Engage and assist customers with their purchasing needs
- Transport donated/purchased items to/from personal vehicles
- Sort, prepare, price, and display donated items for the sales floor
- Operate cash register/POS computer for accurate transactions, including reconciling cash drawer and assisting with bank deposits
- Perform store custodial duties such as cleaning break area, bathrooms, floors, trash, windows, and dusting
- Maintain a clean and organized sales floor showroom
- Communicate positively with customers, staff, and vendors
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of related work experience
- Ability to operate a cash register/POS computer for accurate transactions and making correct change
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and moving 50 or more pounds using dolly/cart/truck
- Physical ability to perform the above duties
