Thrift Store Worker

About the role

The Salvation Army Midland Division Thrift Store in Sedalia, Missouri is seeking a Store Worker to perform all functions of a thrift store worker, including customer service, inventory handling, sales, and store upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers and staff to promote positive relationships
• Sort, price, and display donated items
• Assist with loading and unloading donated and purchased items from vehicles
• Operate cash register, make correct change, count and reconcile cash drawer, and prepare bank deposits
• Perform store custodial duties such as cleaning windows, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors, and taking out trash
• Help maintain a clean and neat showroom during store hours

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of related work experience, or two years of work experience without a diploma
• Ability to understand written job descriptions, cleaning instructions, and material safety data sheets
• Capable of operating a cash register and making correct change
• Must be bondable and able to work with minimal supervision
• Team player with strong communication skills

Physical and Working Conditions

• Continuous lifting of 5 pounds, frequent lifting of 25 pounds, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, and frequent movement of 50+ pounds using dollies, carts, or trucks
• Most work performed indoors in a temperature-controlled display room; sorting/back room/storage area may be cold in winter and hot in summer

This is a part-time position under 20 hours per week with a starting pay of $15.00 per hour. The store is located at 601 S Ohio Ave, Sedalia, Missouri.
