Thrift Store Worker

About the role

The Salvation Army Midland Division Thrift Store in Mattoon, Illinois, is seeking a part-time thrift store worker to assist customers and manage inventory.

Responsibilities

• Engage and assist customers with their purchasing needs.
• Sort, price, and display donated items for the sales floor.
• Operate cash register and point of sale computer for accurate transactions, including reconciling the cash drawer and assisting with bank deposits.
• Load and unload donated/purchased items to and from personal vehicles and the store.
• Maintain store cleanliness and orderliness.
• Perform store custodial duties as directed.
• Communicate professionally with customers, staff, and leadership.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related work experience.
• Ability to operate a cash register and point of sale computer.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
• Physical stamina for the physical labor involved.
