Therapeutic Activities Aide

About the role

Join the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs as a Therapeutic Activities Aide and help support the well-being of men and women who served our great country. This role allows you to bring energy, creativity, and compassion to daily programs and activities at the Southeastern Veterans' Center. You will help residents stay engaged socially, mentally, and physically.

Responsibilities

• Activity Support: Assist in planning and conducting recreational and educational activities that support resident well-being
• Resident Assistance: Escort residents to programs, provide transportation when needed, and ensure safety during activities
• Program Participation: Lead or assist with group sessions such as games, crafts, outings, music, or exercise
• Volunteer Coordination: Support volunteers by giving clear guidance, reviewing safety practices, and helping them assist residents during activities
• Record Keeping: Document resident attendance, behavior, incidents, and progress for supervisors and care teams
• Supply Management: Maintain activity supplies, select needed materials, and prepare items for scheduled programs

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Six months of work experience providing care to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Special Requirements: You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.
• Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
