Therapeutic Activities Aide (Local Government)

Description of Work

This position supports individuals in a community residential setting by helping them build the skills needed for daily living and personal growth. As a Therapeutic Activities Aide, you will perform the following duties:

• Skill Instruction: Teach and model daily living skills such as hygiene, nutrition, safety practices, and problem solving
• Direct Support: Assist individuals with cooking, shopping, laundry, housekeeping, and personal hygiene tasks
• Scheduling Support: Arrange and coordinate medical appointments when needed
• Safety Monitoring: Check the house, grounds, and equipment to ensure upkeep, maintenance, and fire safety
• Community Escorting: Accompany individuals to activities, appointments, shopping trips, and community programs
• Team Participation: Report on progress, maintain files, complete documentation, and follow CRRS regulations

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months as an Aide Trainee; or One year of experience working with persons with mental or physical disabilities; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
