About the role

The Institute of Future Media, Democracy and Society (FuJo) at DCU invites applications for the position of Research Assistant/Postdoctoral Researcher. The successful candidate will support research activities across the Institute's portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews and synthesise research findings across multiple projects
• Assist in the design and implementation of research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative approaches
• Collect, analyse and interpret data from various sources
• Contribute to the preparation of research reports, academic publications and project deliverables
• Engage with project partners and stakeholders as required
• Support the dissemination of research findings through presentations and events

Requirements

• A primary degree (NFQ Level 8) in a relevant discipline such as Media Studies, Communication, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field
• For Postdoctoral Researcher positions, a PhD in a relevant discipline is required
• Strong research skills with experience in both quantitative and qualitative methods
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a research team
• Demonstrated organisational and project management capabilities

Skills

• Knowledge of media and democracy issues, digital media landscapes, or related research areas
• Experience with data analysis software (e.g. SPSS, NVivo, R, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with research ethics and data protection protocols
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively

Pay

Competitive salary scale commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on the appropriate scale in line with DCU's remuneration policies.

Schedule

Full-time, fixed-term contract with a specified duration. Flexible working arrangements may be considered in line with institutional policy.
