About the role
The Institute of Future Media, Democracy and Society (FuJo) at Dublin City University (DCU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position. The successful candidate will work on a project focused on media, democracy, and digital technologies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research on topics related to media, democracy, and digital technologies
- Contribute to the design and execution of research projects within the Institute
- Disseminate research findings through publications, presentations, and other appropriate channels
- Engage with academic and policy communities on issues relating to media and democracy
- Contribute to the development of research proposals and funding applications
- Participate in the intellectual life of the Institute and contribute to its research culture
- Collaborate with other researchers within the Institute and with external partners
- Contribute to the supervision of postgraduate students as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Institute
Requirements
- A PhD in a relevant discipline such as Communication Studies, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field
- Demonstrated expertise in research on media, democracy, and/or digital technologies
- Strong track record of research publications appropriate to career stage
- Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
- Demonstrated ability to manage research projects and meet deadlines
Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant discipline completed or near completion
- Experience in conducting research on media and democracy issues
- Knowledge of the Irish media landscape and policy environment is desirable
- Experience with research dissemination and public engagement activities

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in research software and tools appropriate to the discipline
- Project management and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
