About the role

The Institute of Future Media, Democracy and Society (FuJo) at Dublin City University (DCU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position. The successful candidate will work on a project focused on media, democracy, and digital technologies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research on topics related to media, democracy, and digital technologies
• Contribute to the design and execution of research projects within the Institute
• Disseminate research findings through publications, presentations, and other appropriate channels
• Engage with academic and policy communities on issues relating to media and democracy
• Contribute to the development of research proposals and funding applications
• Participate in the intellectual life of the Institute and contribute to its research culture
• Collaborate with other researchers within the Institute and with external partners
• Contribute to the supervision of postgraduate students as appropriate
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Institute

Requirements

• A PhD in a relevant discipline such as Communication Studies, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field
• Demonstrated expertise in research on media, democracy, and/or digital technologies
• Strong track record of research publications appropriate to career stage
• Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
• Demonstrated ability to manage research projects and meet deadlines

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant discipline completed or near completion
• Experience in conducting research on media and democracy issues
• Knowledge of the Irish media landscape and policy environment is desirable
• Experience with research dissemination and public engagement activities
