The North Face: Designer - Youth Apparel

About the role

A day in the life of a Designer – Youth Apparel at The North Face involves working with and supporting the team on elevating design expression and creating best-in-industry lifestyle apparel that can take people to the far corners of the world, in style and comfort. You will support the Lifestyle & Youth Apparel Design Team on the creation and execution of seasonal product design work.

Responsibilities

• Support the design team with seasonal research, tool updates, concepts, product design and tech-packing.
• Work on moderately complex products, including seasonal research and insights, presentation tools, concepts, design deliverables, and product design.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners and design leadership on a broader range of products.
• Present design work at seasonal gates, giving and receiving constructive feedback.
• Show a solid understanding for brand aesthetic, DNA, materials and technologies, fit and silhouette, cost engineering, in support of consumer and business needs.
• Show a passion for details, learning, and contribute to team reviews, workshops, and milestones.
• Create product that is built for Snow/Climb/Trail as well as Lifestyle product that is inspired by these territories through a kid-appropriate lens.

Requirements

• A relevant Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent relevant experience
• 4+ years of experience in apparel design; preferred experience in Youth Apparel
• Relevant apparel design experience and a strong interest in the youth market are necessary.
• Preferred knowledge of both outerwear and sportswear design and product construction
• Strong product acumen with working knowledge of apparel product development processes, including design, development, sourcing and manufacturing
• Proficient working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office
• Good level sketching, tech-pack creation skills and attention to detail
• Experience doing research, prototyping and concepting across lifestyle and performance products
• Cross functional and team collaboration and communication
• Excellent collaboration skills and an ability to manage multiple timelines and deadlines
• Proactive approach to identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best solutions with a values-driven commitment to do what is right
• High degree of agility and adaptability
• Growth mindset and enthusiasm for learning new tools and problem-solving

• 3D design experience is preferred but not required
• Experience using AI rendering tools is preferred but not required
• International work experience and market understanding are preferred but not required
• Basic pattern and construction capabilities are preferred but not required
• Circular design experience is preferred but not required

Pay

Hiring Range: $82,080.00 USD - $102,600.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
