Qualifications
- High school diploma and enrollment at Joliet Junior College or University of St. Francis
- True interest in applied digital media technology
Compensation
$17.00 per hour
Additional Responsibilities
- Use available tutorials, manuals, and other materials to increase knowledge of available technology
- Maintain equipment by following defined maintenance and housekeeping procedures as well as troubleshoot and report basic equipment failures and problems
- Execute opening and closing procedures and report major issues to the appropriate staff person
Interests and Skills
- Spanish speaking skills are a definite plus
- Enrolled at Joliet Junior College or University of St. Francis

- Customer service orientation
- Enthusiasm for working with audiovisual technology in a public setting

About the Role
The Joliet Public Library’s Digital Media Studio, located at the downtown Ottawa Street building, is seeking a creative and customer service oriented college student for a fall internship. The student must be enrolled at either Joliet Junior College or the University of St. Francis. The DMS and its adjacent spaces include a common area, an Art Studio, a Collaboration Room, a Recording Studio, and a Green Screen Room. The ideal team player will enjoy working with audiovisual technology in a public setting.
Responsibilities
- Aid and train patrons in using all available equipment and services
- Enforce the Library’s policies concerning the use of the Digital Media Studio
- Aid with staffing the Digital Media Studio information desk
- Aid with programming opportunities
- Attend staff meetings
- Help with implementing programs
- Compile materials, supplies, and resources for programs
- Design and prepare displays
- Answer telephone calls in a courteous and helpful manner
- Track and report specified statistics
Schedule
Temporary (September through December), part-time (maximum of 20-hours a week) position. Final schedule to be determined in conjunction with the DMS Manager.
