About the Role
This position involves proctoring a diverse range of exams and maintaining test security, integrity, and confidentiality in compliance with FERPA and National College Testing Association standards. Responsibilities include customer service, office tasks, database management, and supervision of student workers.
Responsibilities
- Proctor a wide variety of exams, including:
- On-campus make-up exams
- Accommodated on-campus exams
- Computer and paper/pencil correspondence exams
- Language placement tests
- Prior learning assessments (e.g., CLEP, DSST)
- Admissions testing (e.g., On-Campus ACT)
- Certification and professional exams (e.g., Meazure Learning, Prov, Inc.)
- Psychological and vocational exams
- Miscellaneous group exams for campus and community
- Maintain test security and integrity, including:
- Authenticating examinee identities
- Overseeing video monitoring systems
- Reporting academic integrity violations
- Adhering to confidentiality standards (FERPA and NCTA)
- Perform customer service and office tasks, such as:
- Scheduling exam appointments
- Managing and updating customer databases
- Communicating with faculty and offices to coordinate exams
- Maintaining organized records of completed exams
- Handling email and phone communications
- Copying, faxing, scanning, and printing documents
- Filing and maintaining testing/office supplies
- Creating and updating public relations materials (e.g., brochures)
- Manage daily database entry, reporting, and program evaluation, including:
- Entering test score data into electronic student records
- Tracking test volume statistics
- Managing requisitions, invoices, budget, and deposits for testing services
- Hire, train, and supervise undergraduate work-study students and graduate assistants.
- Provide support to the CBT Manager and Director of Testing in managing testing programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with internet-based delivery systems.
- Strong working knowledge of computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to troubleshoot computer-based exams.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Awareness of accessibility and disability considerations.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with testing and assessment, or experience in a high-security/confidentiality office environment preferred.
- Prior experience in a testing/assessment center or proctoring national testing programs preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
- Required to obtain certifications for administering vendor tests within three months of employment, including but not limited to Accuplacer, CLEP, and Meazure Learning.
Pay
This is a union position with a salary grade of SBU-110, subject to the SBU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
