Main Responsibilities

  • Test Administration: Check in students using proper identification procedures. Clearly communicate test rules and procedures to students. Prepare and set up testing materials and equipment according to specific requirements. Distribute, monitor, and collect tests (computer-based and/or paper-based). Maintain a quiet, distraction-reduced environment appropriate for testing. Ensure confidentiality and sensitivity when working with students receiving accommodations. Monitor the use of assistive technology and maintain compliance with accessibility protocols.
  • Security and Integrity: Monitor exams to prevent cheating and ensure compliance with testing regulations. Report academic dishonesty or policy violations promptly. Ensure secure storage and handling of test materials before and after administration.
  • Customer Service: Provide a professional and supportive atmosphere for students, faculty, and staff. Answer general questions related to testing services. Troubleshoot minor technical issues during testing and escalate when necessary.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of testing sessions and incidents. Assist in scheduling appointments and updating databases as needed. Maintain Testing Center email communications to faculty and students. Report irregularities and testing violations to appropriate personnel.

Desired Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a testing environment, education, or working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods. Proficiency with assistive technology (e.g., screen readers, speech-to-text software) is a plus. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow detailed procedures and adapt to changing situations. High level of personal integrity.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of Ohio Wesleyan University Campus, policies, procedures, and resources.

Work Conditions

  • Ability to work scheduled hours, typically about 28 hours per week. A limited amount of weekend hours may be necessary to monitor email (virtual).
  • Weekend and evening proctoring will be required during finals weeks (on campus).
  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods. Able to ascend and descend at least one flight of stairs and cross campus to deliver exams to multiple university buildings and offices.
  • May require occasional lifting of testing materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs).
