Test Technician II
ABM Industries is seeking an Apparatus Test Technician to join our Electrical Power Services team in Denver, CO. This role involves safe and efficient testing of electrical power distribution equipment for customers in the assigned territory, with approximately 50% travel time.
Pay
Base hourly rate: $40–$45, plus available paid overtime per week. The specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on electrical systems under the supervision of Sr. Technicians.
- Track project scope completion and communicate with ABM and customer management.
- Maintain, test, repair, rebuild, and replace low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
- Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches.
- Test and inspect low, medium, and high-voltage cable installations.
- Maintain, test, and repair transformers and related equipment.
- Test and calibrate solid-state and electromechanical relays.
- Conduct low and medium-voltage motor control center and contractor testing.
- Start-up, troubleshoot, and repair generator controls and transfer schemes.
- Test and commission protection and control systems on high-voltage substations.
- Sample and interpret insulated fluids.
- Complete Job Hazard Analyses, including arc-flash and shock analyses.
- Review and submit timecards, expenses, and project reports.
- Document test results and complete field reports.
- Rotate emergency on-call duty.
- Maintain strict compliance with regulatory laws.
- Assist in the sales process as the technical expert in electrical testing and maintenance.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience with apparatus electrical testing (Transformers, Breakers, Switchgear).
- Familiarity with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards.
- Familiarity with NFPA70E Electrical Safety standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical performance deficiencies.
- Ability to travel regionally 50% of the time.
- Knowledge of lockout/tag-out and hazardous energy control procedures.
- Clean driving record and drug-free.
