About the role
The Test Engineering Manager will work closely with product development staff on product testing direction, supports design direction, and assures design robustness through compliance to required standards. They will guide the technical direction and execute tests at the Franksville, WI electrical labs, establish and continuously improve testing capabilities and processes, and maintain/improve lab safety.
Responsibilities
- Works with product development staff on product testing direction and design direction.
- Supports design robustness through compliance to required standards.
- Guides the technical direction and executes tests at the Franksville, WI electrical labs.
- Establishes and continuously improves testing capabilities and processes while maintaining/improving lab safety.
- Sets up and runs test circuits including test instrumentation and controls.
- Reviews test methods required by standards and develops procedures as needed.
- Designs and sets up test circuits including test instrumentation and controls.
- Executes planned project activities and adjusts for unplanned circumstances.
- Contributes to Eaton testing strategy by identifying/championing resource strategies, justifying state-of-the-art equipment, and increasing the overall value to Eaton.
- Facilitates both standardized and unique tests on electrical power distribution apparatus involving high voltage, high power, and thermal testing.
- Assures design robustness through compliance to required standards.
- Leads assigned site safety initiatives (MESH) as a MESH Champion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in electrical testing and/or design of medium or high voltage electrical products.
- Professional Engineering license preferred.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in electrical testing and/or design of medium or high voltage electrical products.
- Experience in developing electrical test systems (AC/DC, impulse, power/short-circuit, thermal, etc.).
- Six-sigma trained to support measurement uncertainty evaluation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneNote, and Visio.
- Knowledge in the application of medium voltage electrical distribution equipment.
- Familiarity and practice with industry testing standards of IEEE C37 and C57 Series or Equivalent IEC.
- Knowledge of power test equipment and measurement instrumentation.
