About the Role
Direct Test Engineers I & II to operate within assigned responsibilities with a high level of efficiency, integrity, and enthusiasm, striving to achieve excellence in all endeavors. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining test procedures, tester hardware, and software for electronic circuit board production.
Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management:
- Recruit and interview Test Engineers I & II; communicate criteria to recruiters for Process Technician candidates.
- Coach Test Engineers in the interviewing and hiring process.
- Monitor team member turnover, identify improvement factors, and implement changes.
- Identify individual and team strengths and development needs; create or validate training curriculum.
- Coach and mentor Test Engineers I & II to deliver excellence to internal and external customers.
- Establish measurable goals and objectives for individual and team performance (e.g., operational metrics, project timelines, training documentation).
- Solicit ongoing feedback from managers, peers, and team members; provide coaching and counseling based on feedback.
- Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational metrics and organizational goals.
- Coordinate large teams and maintain focus during crises.
- Ensure fair and consistent recognition and rewards.
- Provide a communication forum for idea exchange; organize and adapt communication styles for clarity and effectiveness.
- Functional Management:
- Understand and contribute to campus strategic directions; define and implement Test Engineering strategies.
- Provide regular updates on strategy execution.
- Identify creative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes (e.g., task consolidation, elimination of non-value-added processes).
- Monitor departmental costs and trends; provide feedback on cost improvements.
- Technical Management:
- Perform duties involving conventional engineering practices, including ICT, FVT, ESS, and system-level test.
- Manage the engineering test function for standard and custom devices.
- Evaluate and identify test procedures and equipment required for quality checks.
- Compile and document data to analyze performance and recommend process changes.
- Assist or lead the development of special test equipment and software programs for projects.
- Assist customers in setting up training programs for new product testing procedures.
- Provide training and support to test engineers.
- Act as a liaison and technical conduit for assigned customers.
- Explore new test technologies for quality improvements on assigned products.
- Perform detailed analysis on test quality, identify trends, and spearhead corrective actions.
- Monitor all New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through assigned test engineers.
- Adhere to all safety, health, and security rules and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electronics or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Five to ten years of relevant experience.
