Test Engineer III/IV

The Cottonmouth® ARV is a recon vehicle designed as a force-multiplier, equipped with advanced full-spectrum reconnaissance and surveillance sensors. About the Role

Textron Systems is seeking highly skilled Test Engineers to join our dynamic engineering team supporting the ARV program and other cutting-edge defense applications. This interdisciplinary role spans the full product lifecycle, including new product development, upgrades, payload design, integration, testing, and fielding solutions for military and commercial customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute tests for hardware, software, and systems to ensure quality, functionality, and reliability.
• Create test plans, write test cases, identify defects, and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues.
• Develop detailed test plans, strategies, and procedures based on requirements.
• Write specific test cases and scripts for functional, performance, security, and other test types.
• Execute tests, monitor development and production processes, and manage controlled testing environments.
• Identify, document, report, and track software/hardware defects using bug trackers.
• Collaborate with developers, process engineers, and management to provide insights, suggest improvements, and ensure quality standards are met.
• Analyze test results, document findings, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders, including program milestone reviews.
• Interact daily with technical leads, program managers, planners, technicians, and other engineers.
• Drive tasks to completion independently with appropriate supervision and mentoring.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to support program objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in engineering (software, electrical, mechanical, systems) or a related field, with 6-8 years of experience.
• 6-8 years of demonstrated project leadership experience preferred.
• Experience with hardware and/or software integration, requirements derivation and allocation, or architecture design.
• Experience testing and integrating new technology into ground vehicle products throughout the program lifecycle.
• Proficiency in executing test engineering tasks, including requirements analysis, design review support, formal validation planning, test execution, verification, risk management, and engineering analysis.
• Experience preparing and presenting test engineering work products (e.g., test plans, procedures, reports) to internal and external customers.
• Daily interaction with U.S. Government and commercial customers, program managers, planners, and technicians.
• Familiarity with Windows and/or Unix operating systems is a plus.
• Strong writing and presentation skills.
• Experience with DOORS, JIRA, and MagicDraw (or equivalent tools) is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Ability to travel up to 25%.
• Active Secret Clearance preferred; Secret eligibility required.
• Ability to drive tasks to completion independently.
