TEST ENGINEER II

This position is 100% onsite at The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor based in Southern California near Los Angeles International Airport. The Marvin Group specializes in military aerospace and vehicle systems, including Alternate Mission Equipment, armament test equipment, and power/thermal management systems, serving the Department of Defense and global allies for over 60 years.

About the Role

Responsible for providing direction in developing test practices and ensuring compliance with contractual test requirements. This includes creating processes, plans, procedures, automation, and testing devices/fixtures. The role involves assisting and occasionally leading test projects, supporting new project test readiness reviews, and driving projects to completion. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled electrical engineer with strong mechanical aptitude, practical problem-solving abilities, and experience with tools and equipment for testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist and occasionally lead test projects: design, development, training, and production release.
• Ensure proper test-related documentation is completed, verified, and approved, including test processes, equipment, test programs, and fixtures.
• Prepare and compile test reports, including data analysis, results, test validation, and verification.
• Write test plans and procedures that meet product requirements using VCRM; train test personnel and verify training effectiveness.
• Perform setup, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of test systems, circuits, components, harnesses, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
• Conduct test incident/failure and root cause analysis; implement and verify corrective actions.
• Demonstrate time management and communication to complete tasks and projects on time.
• Read and understand technical drawings, procedures, and Mil-Spec industry standards.
• Develop and utilize technical knowledge of product line testing; collaborate with stakeholders to solve problems.
• Support the development of new test program test readiness reviews.

Requirements

• 4-year electrical engineering degree or equivalent, with 3+ years of experience in a closely related technical field, including mechanical engineering.
• Hands-on experience with signal generators, power meters, oscilloscopes, Hi-Pot testers, and cable harness testers.
• Experience with EMI, RF, analog, and digital circuits in relation to test development; understanding of hardware test requirements for volume manufacturing.
• Advanced schematic interpretation and ability to use precision measuring devices.
• Strong documentation, organization, attention to detail, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to prioritize and organize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Demonstrated customer relations skills and strong communication abilities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of testing equipment, data acquisition, and programming languages such as C, C++, and/or LabVIEW.
• Execution of tests in accordance with quality systems and knowledge of manufacturing processes/procedures.
• Mid-level skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must meet export control compliance requirements; all applicants must be "U.S. persons" under ITAR (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, political asylee, or refugee).

Pay

Test Engineer II: $80,000 - $105,000 (based on experience, skills, and education).
