About the role

The Branch Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the branch’s operations in compliance with established policies and procedures. This role plans, directs, and controls all activities of the branch profit centers through department managers to ensure overall growth and profit objectives.

• Formulate major objectives, policies, plans, procedures, and programs for branch operations.
• Work closely with department managers to develop and implement specific performance targets and plans aligned with company goals.
• Evaluate each department’s operating results and performance against pre-determined objectives.
• Consult with department managers on personnel decisions and assist with major, target, or critical accounts.
• Assess present and future needs, trends, problems, and profit opportunities of the branch.
• Establish short- and long-term operating and financial objectives for the branch within the company’s overall plans.
• Ensure approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied throughout the branch.
• Develop annual and monthly business plans, sales/profit objectives, and expense budgets with department managers.
• Create merchandising strategies with department managers to meet objectives, including supervising the sale of trucks, parts, and service.
• Ensure branch compliance with local, state, and federal governmental regulations.
• Maintain appropriate communications within and between departments and functional areas.
• Establish and maintain satisfactory customer and public relations, acting as the final arbitrator between customers and department managers when needed.
• Develop and train department managers, review and appraise their performance, and recommend compensation changes in accordance with company policy.
• Ensure the branch’s organizational structure is efficiently planned and adequately staffed.
• Promote safe work habits and ensure safety rules are followed.

This position is designated as safety-sensitive. Any lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death, including operating, repairing, or maintaining heavy equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles, or handling hazardous materials and waste.

Requirements

• Previous management experience.
• Thorough knowledge of all phases of branch operations.
• Direct truck sales experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong leadership ability and decision-making skills.
