About the Role

As a Territory Manager, you'll be dedicated to driving profitability with personal lines distribution partners. You’ll work with a variety of distribution partners, leveraging tools and tactics to achieve desired results. This role requires frequent travel throughout the Cleveland, Ohio area and regular in-person engagement with agency partners to maintain field presence and visibility.

The successful candidate must live within the assigned territory and have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the strategic and operational goals of the assigned territory and individual distribution partners to identify mutually beneficial solutions using data, analytics, and marketplace insights.
  • Proactively identify and implement actions to achieve territory goals.
  • Lead new business and transfer processes, including identifying new appointments, setting expectations, and managing commitments to ensure production delivery.
  • Leverage tools (e.g., Salesforce, Seismic, dashboards) to increase operational efficiency.
  • Gather distribution partner feedback and share continuous improvement opportunities with internal business partners.
  • Collaborate with personal lines, farm geography partners, claims, and servicing teams on problem-solving, education, and sales practices.
  • Complete the annual planning process, document agreements in Salesforce, and hold partners accountable.
  • Partner with Product, Marketing, and other teams to identify and act on territory opportunities.
  • Lead portfolio management meetings to align with territory goals and monitor data to drive profitability and revenue growth.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate studies in business, insurance, sales, marketing, or related fields; degree preferred.
  • Typically eight to ten years of sales or sales management experience.
  • Prior property/casualty or financial services experience is desirable.
  • Strong background in the independent agency distribution channel.
  • Carrier-side sales management experience; a combination of carrier and agency-side experience is ideal.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence and drive top-line performance.
  • This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization; Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT Extension program.

Pay

National salary range for Territory Manager - Personal Lines: $108,000–$201,000.

Expected starting salary range: $108,000–$162,000. Placement within this range depends on skills, education, experience, scope of the role, and market conditions. Sales incentives based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.

For part-time roles, compensation may be prorated based on hours worked relative to a full-time schedule.

Schedule

  • Exempt (not eligible for overtime).
  • Frequent travel required, with potential for overnight stays.
