Territory Manager II, Pain Interventions - Mid Cities, TX
We are seeking a committed professional to join our remote team. While this is a remote position, the candidate must reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts throughout the region. A valid driver's license is essential for this role.
Across our global Neuroscience organization, we advance care for complex neurological and spinal conditions by combining innovative technology, data-driven insights, and deep clinical expertise. Our Neuromodulation Operating Unit, Pain Interventions business provides advanced therapies for chronic pain and other neurological conditions through spinal cord stimulation and targeted drug delivery systems.
About the role
The Territory Manager II is an intermediate-level sales representative role within our Pain and Interventional Therapies team. This position assists in managing a large territory by initiating, supporting, and developing strategic implanting centers and key referral networks. In certain geographies, this role serves as the primary account/implanter relationship contact, handling customer needs, account-level reimbursement, and coordination of support activities. This is a field-based position reporting to a District Sales Manager and partnering with Sales Representative peers and a Clinical Specialist team.
Responsibilities
- Sells implantable devices for specific therapies to physicians, institutions, payors, and other medical staff.
- Partners with strategic implanting centers to develop the account/implanter practice by:
- Providing product and therapy technical support and service.
- Consulting on strategic management and analyzing sales trends.
- Utilizing Neuro business partners to present marketing and business plans for territory growth.
- Ensures personal understanding of all applicable quality policy/system items and follows procedures to maintain compliance.
- Generates new sales by developing leads, recruiting new surgeons, qualifying prospects, and making sales calls.
- Grows new Interventional and Pain opportunities with limited supervision, utilizing corporate resources to meet or exceed quota.
- Aggressively seeks new customers and formulates plans for growth as directed by the District Sales Manager.
- Responds to customer complaints in accordance with Medtronic policy and escalates issues beyond scope of authority.
- Monitors competitors’ product and merchandizing practices and reports findings to the District Sales Manager.
- Prepares and submits call reports as required.
- Attends and participates in sales meetings, training programs, conventions, and trade shows.
- Cooperates with all personnel on the execution of company programs.
- Aids in creating and implementing an annual business plan with quarterly updates.
- Provides service to customers based on their individual needs.
- Responds in a timely manner to all reporting requirements and requests.
- Adheres to company policies and conducts business ethically.
- Manages business within assigned budgets while maintaining Medtronic profitability.
- Performs other activities as assigned by sales leadership.
Requirements
- Must reside within the assigned territory and have a valid driver’s license with an active vehicle insurance policy. Your driving record will be reviewed as part of the application process.
- Must be able to drive approximately 50% of the time within the assigned territory and may require overnight travel.
- For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
Qualifications
Must Have:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6+ years of relevant sales, clinical, or related experience in medical device, Medtech, healthcare, or life sciences; or
- Associates Degree and 4+ years of relevant sales, clinical, or related experience in medical device, Medtech, healthcare, or life sciences; or
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of relevant sales, clinical, or related experience in medical device, Medtech, healthcare, or life sciences.
Nice to Have:
- Experience calling on physicians in one or more of the following or related referral accounts: Neurology, Physiatrist, Oncology, Internal Medicine, or Primary Care Physician/GP.
- Solid knowledge of the reimbursement climate.
- Minimum of 1 year of referral and therapy development experience.
- Experience with surgeons.
- Experience in developing new, innovative markets.
- Experience making multiple referral calls on a daily basis.
- Familiarity with the O.R.
- Strong business planning/consulting and territory financial analysis skills; preferred knowledge of managed care.
- Experience or knowledge of physiology/clinical therapies.
- Experience with or knowledge of implantable devices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and team-oriented skills.
- Conceptual/consultative sales skills.
- Understanding of all quality policy/system items that are personally applicable.
- Ability to follow all work/quality procedures to ensure compliance.
- Proven leadership abilities and experience in selling value-added programs.
- Ability to thrive in an environment of variety and rapid growth and change.
- Accustomed to working independently with a high degree of accountability.
