Tenure Track Faculty Position: Ecology/Environmental Biology
Covenant College, a Presbyterian Church in America‑affiliated liberal arts institution, sits on a 400‑acre campus atop Lookout Mountain on the Georgia/Tennessee border. The setting offers expansive views of the Smoky Mountains and Cumberland Plateau and provides easy access to outdoor recreation such as camping, boating, cycling, climbing, caving, and hiking, while being within two hours of Atlanta, Nashville, and Knoxville.
The Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position in Ecology/Environmental Biology beginning July 1 2027. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach a sophomore‑level Ecology course.
- Teach upper‑level elective courses in ecology or environmental biology.
- Teach a laboratory science course for non‑majors.
- Maintain and strengthen the existing consortial partnership with the Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies.
- Oversee Covenant’s environmental stewardship and sustainability certificate program.
- Engage in research, scholarship, and other professional activities.
- Mentor and advise undergraduate students.
- Participate in campus community life and faculty governance.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree with specialization in ecology or environmental biology (required).
- Teaching experience and interest in establishing an active field‑research program with undergraduates that leverages Covenant’s land holdings and southern Appalachian location (preferred).
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research.
- Commitment to the mission of Covenant College.
