Assistant Professor- Tenure Track - Sustainable Biology and Environmental Science
About the role
Seton Hall University invites applications for a full-time tenure track professor at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences to start Fall 2026, pending final budgetary approval. The Department of Biological Sciences is undergoing rapid growth and seeks to develop coursework and research in environmental sciences and related fields.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop a research program involving both undergraduate and graduate students and can be externally funded.
- Teach biology major required courses, ecology focused courses, as well as graduate courses within their area of expertise.
- Mentor Graduate students' research; offer experiential research opportunities with advising to undergraduate students.
- Assist with educating, managing, mentoring, and advising the increased number of biology majors.
- Provide a computational based research space for undergrads and graduate students.
- Aid with all the day-to-day activities important to a functional department.
- Contribute to innovative, collaborative program development in interdisciplinary STEM fields as part of our "STEM Initiative."
Required Qualifications
- A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Environmental Sciences or related fields (Ecology, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Plant Biology, Botany, Geology, Earth Science).
- 2 years of relevant postdoctoral training.
- A strong publication record.
- Previous teaching experience at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Establish and sustain an energetic, externally funded research program.
- Mentor graduate student research/projects and offer experiential research opportunities to undergraduate students.
- Teach graduate and undergraduate students.
- Contribute to expanding programming in environmental sciences and engineering.
