Tenure Track Faculty Inclusive Special Education
Elmira College (EC) is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Inclusive / Special Education (1-12) with an appointment beginning July 2025.
About the role
The successful candidate will teach courses in the Teaching Students with Disabilities (All Grades) Teacher Preparation program, including inclusive education, instructional assessment, behavioral management, and differentiated instruction. Teaching assignments may also include methods courses, practicum-based instruction, student teacher supervision, and other classes in the Undergraduate Teacher Education Program.
Faculty at EC advise students, engage in service-related activities (e.g., departmental, college, and university committees), and pursue scholarly research leading to presentations and publications. The position emphasizes close student-faculty interaction within a liberal arts environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach core Undergraduate Teacher Education courses in Inclusive / Special Education (up to 24 credits per academic year).
- Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction, and evaluation.
- Participate in academic and career advising.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research and publications.
- Create new courses and develop new areas of concentration.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching and student engagement.
Requirements
- Expertise and Teacher Certification in Inclusive / Special Education.
- At least 4 years of teaching experience in K-12 special education settings (inclusive and/or self-contained positions across multiple grade levels).
- Doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field (ABD status considered if conferral is no later than June 30, 2027).
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, as well as strong organizational and time management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Teacher Certification in Childhood Education.

Pay
$58,000 - $60,000
Schedule
Full-time, on-site. Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is anticipated; higher ranks may be considered.
