About the role

The Ray and Stephanie Lane Computational Biology Department within the School of Computer Science (SCS) at Carnegie Mellon University, is seeking to hire new faculty who share our vision for how innovations in computational thinking can drive biomedical research. The department is a world leader in the development and implementation of rigorous computational approaches to biomedical research problems.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and benefit from the collaborative spirit that is a hallmark of Carnegie Mellon University and from opportunities to collaborate with other institutions in the Pittsburgh region.
  • Join or help establish cross-department research communities, including across SCS departments or between SCS and other CMU schools and colleges.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field such as computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Strong publication record in high-impact journals and conferences.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
  • Ability to secure external funding.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and teaching skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research and collaboration.

Skills

  • Expertise in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Experience in genomics, epigenetics, single-cell biology, image analysis, and simulation of biological systems.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Experience with machine learning and data science techniques.
