About the role

The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Biological Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to use a multi-disciplinary systems approach to develop a nationally recognized research program focusing on areas such as application of engineering principles and tools to biological systems, analysis and modeling of microbial and organic materials, and design of processes and technologies for food, bioprocess, and molecular engineering applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a nationally recognized research program focusing on biological engineering
  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering
  • Secure extramural funding from a variety of sources
  • Serve the Department, College, and University as assigned

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Food Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline
  • Strong commitment to lead a novel research program in the engineering of biological based products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Willingness to advise and mentor students
  • Must be licensed or be eligible to obtain a license as a Professional Engineer at the time of appointment

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to lead a novel research program in the engineering of biological based products, their processes, and mitigation of contaminants using experimental and modeling tools.
