Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Strategy and Organization Theory
About the role
The Management & Entrepreneurship Department in the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in Fall 2027. We invite applications from individuals working at the frontiers of strategy and organization theory, with complementary training and research. We particularly want candidates who can contribute to our strategy and organization theory research portfolio and teach undergraduate and graduate strategy and organizational change courses. We encourage applications from candidates who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community, including individuals from historically underrepresented groups.

The Leavey School seeks candidates whose research, teaching, and service interests align with the needs of the hiring department. The specific areas of emphasis for this position include Strategic Management, Organization Theory, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation.
Qualifications
Ph.D. or ABD in Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field by September 1 of the appointment year (September 1, 2027).
Demonstrated ability and potential for high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarly research, with a record or clear capacity to publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarly journals.
Demonstrated excellence and potential for effective and inclusive teaching and mentoring of a diverse student population, specifically at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
Commitment to contributing to Santa Clara University’s mission, including fostering a culture of inclusion and academic excellence.
Responsibilities
Maintain an active scholarly research program that leads to publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
Adhere to departmental standards for scholarly work that contribute to the evaluation of tenure and promotion.
Utilize early-career faculty mentoring and professional development resources strongly supported by the University.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in strategy, organization theory, organizational change, innovation, and entrepreneurship as assigned by the department chair.
Design new elective courses.
Fulfill all academic and instructional responsibilities associated with assigned courses.
SCU is on the quarter system, and tenure-stream faculty typically teach six courses per year (two per quarter). Course releases are available in the initial years.
Prioritize high-quality teaching and significant faculty-student interaction.
Engage with teaching development support provided through University Faculty Development programs, workshops, grants, and mentoring.
Evaluate teaching according to departmental standards and the principles of Ignatian pedagogy, which emphasize respectful, inclusive, engaging, and evidence-based instruction.
Provide suitable and effective service to the Department, Leavey School of Business, University, profession, and/or community through committee work, leadership, professional engagement, and other contributions consistent with rank and experience.
