About the role

The Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising in the College of Media at the University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign invites applicants for a full-time (100% FTE) tenure-track assistant professor position. The expected start date is August 16, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the department’s research, teaching, service, and public engagement missions.
  • Build on the department’s strengths and expand expertise in contemporary media and advertising.
  • Teach courses in the existing undergraduate and graduate curricula, potentially developing new electives in areas related to advertising or public relations.
  • Contribute to the interdisciplinary doctoral program in the Institute of Communications Research (ICR).

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in a relevant field by August 16, 2027, including advertising, public relations, communication, mass communication, marketing, psychology, and information sciences.

Qualifications

  • Promising record of scholarship.
  • Eagerness to contribute to the department’s missions.

Skills

  • Research expertise in AI and advertising, AI and public relations, computational social science with an emphasis on media and advertising, data analytics including social media analytics, and advertising.
  • Expertise in social and mobile media and emergent technologies.

Schedule

100% full-time Academic position, appointed on a 9/12-month basis.
