About the role
The Department of Physics at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in astrophysics, with a preference for extragalactic astrophysics. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2023.
Responsibilities
- Develop an independent, externally funded research program that complements and strengthens current research in the department.
- Teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Utilize the observational, computational, and educational facilities at UNT.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or Physics, and postdoctoral research experience, are required.
- Candidates who are observers or theorists will be considered for the position.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated potential to successfully develop an independent, externally funded research program that will complement and strengthen current research in the department.
